dc.description.abstractОцінювання базових знань і навичок студентів є невіддільною частиною процесу викладання іноземних мов. Оцінювання важливе для планування процесу подальшого навчання відповідно до можливостей і потреб студентів, що може забезпечувати послідовність у засвоєнні змісту мовного курсу. Застосування різноманітних методів оцінювання дає змогу викладачеві диференціювати навчання кожного студента та контролювати весь процес навчання. Стаття має на меті підкреслити роль оцінювання у викладанні англійської мови для спеціальних цілей студентам технічних спеціальностей, дослідити та запропонувати найефективніші методи оцінювання та перевірки знань. Розглянуто відмінності між перевіркою знань (оцінкою) і оцінюванням, виявлено проблеми, пов’язані із традиційною перевіркою знань і оцінюванням щодо студентів технічних вищих навчальних закладів, систематизовано інформацію щодо використання методів оцінювання для ефективного викладання та вивчення англійської мови спеціального професійного напряму. Проаналізовано наукові джерела із цього питання і зроблено висновок про високий рівень зацікавленості викладачів у впровадженні сучасних методів оцінювання у процесі навчання англійської мови. Виявлено замалу висвітленість цієї проблеми серед широких мас, незважаючи на високий рівень актуальності цього питання. Розглянуто переваги й особливості різних методів оцінювання, ефективні прийоми, застосування яких у курсі викладання технічної іноземної мови може підвищити мотивацію студентів та показати їм, наскільки добре вони вивчили мову. Наведено конкретні приклади практичних стратегій і видів діяльності, важливих для технічної аудиторії. Виявлено, що оцінювання є безперервним процесом, це не просто перевірка, що проводиться після вивчення розділу або наприкінці уроку. Належна перевірка й оцінювання інтегровані в усі аспекти навчального плану, надаючи як викладачам, так і студентам відповідні корисні дані для оцінки досягнень і визначення ефективності матеріалів і методик. Зроблено узагальнювальні висновки щодо вивчення цього питання та наведено перспективи подальшого дослідження методів оцінювання у вищих навчальних закладах. Надано бібліографічний список.
dc.description.abstract1Assessment and evaluation of students’ basic knowledge and skills has become an integral part of the foreign languages teaching process. Assessment is crucial for planning further learning goals in accordance with students’ capabilities and needs and can provide consistency in mastering the content of the language course. Using various assessment methods allows teachers to differentiate each student’s learning goals and control the entire learning process. This article aims to highlight the role of evaluation and assessment strategies in teaching ESP to engineering students, to study and suggest the most effective evaluation and assessment methods. The distinction between evaluation and assessment is identified, problems associated with traditional evaluation and assessment for engineering students are outlined, the information on the use of assessment methods for effective teaching and learning English for specific purposes is systematized. Scientific sources on this issue are analyzed and a conclusion is made about the high level of teachers’ interest in the introduction of modern assessment methods in the process of learning English. Insufficient coverage of this problem is revealed despite the high level of urgency of this issue. There have been defined benefits and peculiarities of different evaluation strategies, effective techniques, the use of which in the course of English for specific purposes can increase the motivation of students and assist them to improve their learning skills. Specific examples of practical techniques and activities important in Engineering Course are given. It needs to be pointed out that assessment is a continuous process, it’s not simply something that’s done at the end of a unit or a lesson. Appropriate assessment and evaluation are integrated into all aspects of the curriculum, providing both teachers and students with relevant and useful data to gauge progress and determine the effectiveness of materials and methodologies. Generalized conclusions concerning studying of this question are made and prospects of the further research of assessment and evaluation methods in higher educational institutions are resulted. A bibliographic list is provided.
